There is this entry, age  and month could be wrongly transcribed ? Mar-May (but date 30th burial  if William died the 23th is about right -burial a week after death seems normal)

Thanks Dobfarm, although I'm ruling that out on the basis of geography. I have a gut feeling he wouldn't have strayed over sixty miles from his birthplace. This family seems pretty rooted around Morecambe Bay and Lancaster.
