Can find no birth in Scotland for Jane Burns Duncan Holms  b 1917 Prestonpans

Where did you find her info?

I see now both Jane B D & William Philip are on the Attestation Papers.

Annette..

Oddly, they are in 2 different households  ???

HOLMS
ROBERT
1
410/1 5/ 33
Cowdenbeath

HOLMS
JAMES
3
410/1 5/ 33
Cowdenbeath

Then...

HOLMS
JOHN
26
410/1 5/ 32
Cowdenbeath

HOLMS
JANE
25
410/1 5/ 32

Annie

Thanks very much , how on earth did you manage that.
I have got John and Jane and they are the right couple, but  they are at the bottom of the page  ::)
that`s not a great problem because the children are so young, but if it was  an adult family  I would be annoyed.

I don't think those are household numbers. SP does not index household numbers. They are page numbers.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

So, the 2 children will be on the next page then.

Thanks Forfarian, I knew they weren't house numbers as such but didn't know exactly what the numbers signified on their records....we learn something new every day  ;)

Unfortunately yes, it states on the page that there are 5 people in the household, so who the other one is will remain a mystery. I`m not wasting 6 credits to find it might be a lodger  ???

It`s not good that you can`t search by reference / folio numbers as you can in England and Wales.

Thanks for all your help.
I`ve got quite a way back now with this and other related families, but am stuck with a girl born in 1848.
I have her parents  Duncan and Philip /s but she has a middle name of Burns, I just can`t find a link with Burns.
Are the  records available  the same on SP, Anc, Family Search etc, or is one better than the others.

No, they are not the same. Very far from it, in fact.

It's not good that when Indexing their info. that they have 1 household over 2 pages costing double the price.

How hard would it be to scan them together & upload as 1 page  ???
