Richmond lookup request
« on: Saturday 18 February 17 12:16 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone be able to lookup the Church of England Bishops Transcripts for Richmond for the following marriage:

Samuel Redfearn oo Dorothy Carnaby  2 March 1754 Richmond, Yorkshire.

I would be particularly interested in any reference to age or to where they might have come from.

Thank you
Sue

A pity but thank you.

They had two children baptised -  Samuel in 1757 no day or month stated, and Margaret on 3 April 1759.  Could I trouble you to look for these entries, there may be some extra info.  There may even have been a child born before Samuel.....

My Samuel oo Dorothy appear in Middleton in Teesdale soon after having more children there from 1762

Thanks

If it helps there is a baptism in Richmond on 25 June 1733 for a Dorothy Carnaby daughter of Robert.

The only baptism I can find for Samuel is

Samuell Redfern son of John (a Stranger) in Wentworth in 1730

Wentworth is in the West Riding between Barnsley and Rotherham.

Could only find the two children you mentioned born in Richmond. Most unhelpful vicar because all the entries say is son/daughter of Samuel Redfearn.

The baptism of Dorothy Carnaby in 1733 is very helpful though.  As my Dorothy's burial record in Stockton states:
Dorothy Redfearn late Carnaby, age 74, died 23 Aug  1807 widow of Samuel Redfearn.

Samel Redfearn is supposedly one of the Derbyshire miners who came to Middleton in Teesdale in 1758.

Much appreciate
Sue

Interesting - I'll investigate.
Supposedly my Samuel is this one -
Samuel baptised 4 Jan 1728 in Matlock to Thomas Redfern and Lydia born Bland.
but I can't validate the connection.
