James HOW - Essex
« on: Saturday 18 February 17 12:42 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the marriage records of my ancestor James HOW.
He was born in around 1801 in Fyfield, Essex.

I am descended from his son William Crosby HOW.

I have his wife listed as Mary in a number of census' and baptism records of their children.

I have noticed a lot of people with trees online put her maiden name as SKINGLEY but I haven't found any records to back this up yet and am hoping someone may be able to help me.

I have found a possible birth record for James HOW with his parents listed as James and Mary and would love the marriage record to see if the names match.

Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

They are in South Weald, Essex in all the census'.

Mary is listed as being born in Burstead/Barstead, Essex and in 1 she is even listed as being born in Fyfield but as her husband is listed as being born in Barstead in that census I'm assuming they were switched.

James how of Hornchurch (perhaps he was working there at the time of marriage,) married Mary Ann steel 18 Aug 1824 at ingrave (which is between little/great burstead and Brentwood - where I found a james how and Mary and their children on 1851 census.
I will check the burstead registers for a Mary Ann steel. This would tie them together.

I think it's Brentwood ... king's road and Queen's road are in Brentwood.

Mary Ann steel was baptised 4 Sep 1804 at st Nicholas church, laindon. It's not far from great burstead? Parents Joseph and Mary (mary Ann on a later child, Harriet's baptism).

Joseph steel married Mary Abbott, both single, at laindon, 22 February 1803.

Found them having a daughter, Sarah, baptised March 1803 in great burstead.

Mary Abbott of Joseph and Mary Abbott baptised great burstead, 20 July 1779.
Mary Ann Abbott of Joshua and Mary Abbott 15 Feb 1784.
