Daines in Essex
« on: Tuesday 21 February 17 17:33 GMT (UK) »
In 1850 William Turpin, my great great grandfather, married Mary Ann Daines at Finchingfield. The marriage certificate gives her father as John Daines. There was a Mary Ann baptised in 1826 which is about right but she was the daughter of Daniel. There was a John Daines of Birdbrook, born ca. 1796, married to Susan(na) but no known offspring. This is beginning to look like a dead end, unless you know better...

Thanks,

Geoff

They also had a daughter Susan, b 1815 but baptised Stambourn 1834. Parents noted as "of Birdbrook" - unclear if this is at the time of birth or baptism

None so blind, etc.... ::) I had that 1841 census tucked away ages ago but somehow missed little Mary Ann...Is it possible to see an image of her baptism record? It isn't in Seax.

Many thanks - I love this forum!

Interesting, I'd already searched her on Ancestry and FindMyPast without success. Perhaps the Library Edition isn't quite as comprehensive as the subscription one?

Are you spelling it Daynes?

Same register next page - william Daynes son of Thomas and Elizabeth of Birdbrook born 2/7/1824 Bapt. 2/10/1825
Could be family?
