Thankyou for your help and ideas so far.

The only death of a Parmiter that would fit in the timeframe 1926-1936 is a Charles E V Parmiter in West Ham in 1928. He married a Minnie Macdonald in 1910.

 ??? ??? ???

Minnie remarried shortly after his death.  ;)

We really need more information from one of the Parmiter childrens birth certificates regarding his occupation.

The story of Charles dying before Emily married Charles Gibion may not be true.

I had already looked at Charles & Minnie with no results - looking again  ;D

Charles E V Parmiter divorced his wife in 1919

You stars!

It all looks like it matches,

I'll order the children's birth certificates to make sure. Please let me know if you find anything else!

Thanks again

Out of interest. On the marriage certificate to Charlie Giboin her surname was Parmiter. Would it have been legal to have given a name you were known by rather than your actual name at that time?

Thanks

In England you can call yourself what you like without any legal formalities providing it is not to defraud.  It looks as though she married Thomas Stack who went to Australia in 1920.  She then took up with Charles Parmiter but as she was still married she just took his name.  By the time she married Charles Giboin both husbands had died.

Two possible records for Thomas S Stack

It may be worth posting on the Australia boards about Thomas's death & will  (unless Trish has a better idea  ;D  )

I would also ask TNA on a quote for the divorce of Charles Parmiter - it may be extortionate, if so you could always ask if someone is going to Kew and they can copy it.
