Isleworth Nazareth Orphange - Nazareth House HOUNSLOW
« on: Wednesday 01 March 17 02:52 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am searching for any further information or pointers on obtaining information from the Sisters of Nazareth at the Isleworth England location. Has anyone had luck obtaining children's records ?

My grandma, Elizabeth Cook  was there from 2-3 , 1941 or so, until leaving as a young adult. Her sister was also there with her.  Their mother is believed to be a Elizabeth Cook ( Caulfield ) also known as Dorothy.

I sincerely appreciate any help or historical information anyone may provide.

Thank You!

Also, I have an address that goes back to the Chesea Hospital for Women on 2 Dovehouse St but the 1939 census or register skips this address . Any insight ?

I apologize in advance if I am using the boards incorrectly.

Thanks Again.

Hi

Welcome to rootschat

Also, I have an address that goes back to the Chesea Hospital for Women on 2 Dovehouse St but the 1939 census or register skips this address .

Could it be this institution 'Chelsea Public Assistance Institution London County Council'  there  appear to be two listed on the free index for this street. Maybe one for men the other women  :-\

Have you tried contacting Hounslow library, I understand they hold quite a few records local to the area

You would be better to contact the mother house in Hammersmith. Isleworth Nazareth House was a mother and baby home for a short period in about the early 40s before becoming a nursing home until a few years ago when it was sold and bought by a housing contractor. It now has luxury flats and houses on the land. You may be lucky to get info from Nazareth House Hammersmith who kept records.
