Service medals and Awards Rolls
Joseph Conway - Corporal
Medals - British War Medal and Victory Medal
Regiment - Machine Gun Corps
Regimental number - 13468
Previous Units- 5310. R Ir Rgt, 13468. M.G.C. Cpl

His service record appears to be amongst the 60% + lost in bombing and fire in WW11.

You know his regiments so you can get a general idea of the action he was involved in by searching for the war diaries on The National Archives site.

Hi  :) , in case you don't know, his entry on the UK WWI Service Medal and Award Rolls, 1914-1920 show that he was demobbed on the 22nd February 1919 under class Z.A.R.

You may be aware that class"Z" was where men would be called back in the event of violations of the treaty with Germany but I'm not sure what the "A" and "R" signified.

If he was discharged in 1922 then his service records should still be with the MoD who still hold service records from 1921 on. You can purchase them for 30 pounds and you will also need a copy of his death certificate. https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records

The AR means Army Reserve, thus Class Z Army Reserve.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

If the MOD has his record he should be on this list;
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/foi-responses-released-by-mod-week-commencing-1-december-2014
Scroll down to  "service personnel indexed data for those with a date of birth date prior to 1901"
& start with att. 1.
Press Ctl + F & enter Conway in the search box.
It won't give Regt. but does give DOB & service no.
