Birth. KNOWLES. CLARENCE HOPE S . 1890 St George

If his birth surname is Knowles - who were his parent(s)?  If he was illegit - he may be under a different surname in 1901 if his mother married

Have you checked for a death pre-1901 or checked the 1911 census?

Thanks, I did see that one, but wasn`t convinced
He is in Manchester with his mother Margaret Ann  in 1911, as Scott.
Hmmm, so maybe he dropped the Knowles, but still can`t track him in 1891.

Marriages Mar 1924
Moodie  Leonora  / Scott  Oxford
SCOTT  Clarence H / Moodie  Oxford

I doubt there are many Clarence Hope Scott's born 1890!!

There is a marriage on freebmd in 1924 in Oxfordshire  and a death in 1968 Oxfordshire plus a probate entry here

Oops, sorry about that 1891 typo again.
Thank you very much for the other links, I`m sure it must be the same man,  didn`t he do well for himself.

I wonder why he dropped the Knowles , another mystery to solve . ???

Didn't you download his birth from SP to establish his parents names - possibly his father was Knowles?

Clarence illegitmate to Margaret Ann Knowles 33, dressmaker, who was in Langbank in 1891.    Was there any other listing in the 1911 census as there was a marriage betwix a male Scott and a Knowles in Englandshire to that date.
