As you probably already know - over 60% of WW1 service records were burnt during the WW2 blitz.

The Medal Roll Index has 7 entries for a Robert H Wilkinson but without knowing his service number it is impossible to pinpoint whether any relate to your ancestor

The most obvious regiment for Stockton would be the DLI, but there are no DLI's in the 7 records mentioned by Carole.  However, somewhat bizarrely the Genealogist has casualty reports for two RH Wilkinson's, both in the Northumberland Fusiliers, but I cant find medal cards for either  ???

Pte RH Wilkinson No. 18033, 12th Btn, Daily List for 16 Oct 1915, Gas Poisoning
Pte RH Wilkinson No. 6307, Daily List for 16 Nov 1916, Wounded

Neither of these entries has digital images attached, and unfortunately I don't have access to the Times Archives to check them.

Thanks guys for your help,im of a mind that the one mentioned as wounded may be him but its only a thought as i was told he did get hurt, as for his records being lost due to bombing may be also possible, so thanks again  BB
