RAF records 1946 - 1954

My father too was in the RAF from 1946 to 1952, he was a Navigator when he left.  He applied for and received his service records some time back (I found this out when I asked him if he minded if I applied) but he hasn't let anyone on the family see them.  He received the Air Force Medal in the Queen's New Year's Honours one year but we don't know what for.  Even my mother doesn't know even though I believe she went with him to receive the medal.  Apparently he's written everything down and we can read it eventually, but not while he's still living because even now he feels bound by the Official Secrets Act.

He might well have known Paulmag33's father.  Certainly he was posted to Habbaniya on at least one occasion - he was very much into photography and took hundreds of photos, many of which have places and dates written on the back.
