Fulham baptism look ups 1810s to 1830s - JAMES family
« on: Saturday 11 March 17 20:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi I am trying to find some baptisms of the James family.

The registers for Fulham are missing on ancestry and I wonder if anyone please has access to them anywhere else?

The children were born to Hannah James and I believe (although not 100% certain) that her husband was called George, a carpenter.

The children are:

Henry James born 1816
William James born c1819–1821
George Edward James born c1823-1824
Mary Ann James born c1824–1831
Elizabeth 'Betsy' James born c1828–1833
Eliza James born c1830–1833
Charles James born c1834-1835

If anyone please help, I would be most grateful.

Many thanks,
Jon

This is what the census says for the children for their birth places. George Edward James though is always stated to have been born in Fulham in c1823/4.

1. Henry James - born 1816 in Westminster & died 1873 in Wales
2. William James - born c1819–1821 in Fulham & died 1852 in Paddinton
3. George Edward James - born c1823-1824 in Fulham & died 1893 in New Cross
4. Mary Ann James - born c1824–1831 in Fulham or Turnham Green or Croydon & died after 1881
5. Elizabeth 'Betsy' James - born c1828–1833 in Fulham or Turnham Green & died after 1871
6. Eliza James/Poole - born c1830–1833 in Fulham or Paddinton or London City & died 1872 in Paddington
7. Charles James - born c1834-1835 in Fulham & died after 1851

I have found that the baptisms for Fulham are online at findmypast and I now know the following about these children:

1. Henry James - born 1816 in Westminster & died 1873 in Wales (married Frances Hunt)
2. William James - born c1819–1821 in Fulham & died 1852 in Paddington (married Sarah Burry)
3. Mary Ann James - born 1821 in Fulham or Turnham Green or Croydon & died after 1881
4. George Edward James - born 1824 in Fulham & died 1893 in New Cross (married Jane Gatcum)
5. Elizabeth 'Betsy' James - born 1826 in Fulham or Turnham Green & died after 1871
6. Eliza James/Poole - born 1827 in Fulham or Paddington or London City & died 1872 in Paddington (married John Tucker Poole)
7. Charles James - born c1832-1835 in Fulham & died 1891-1897 (married Sarah Bentley)

Just thought I would post these up for any future researchers. All three of the daughters by the 1851 census had knocked some years off their ages which continued to their deaths.

George and Hannah James were living in Parsons Green in 1824 and 1826 and then in 1828 they were on the Kings Road in Fulham.

I haven't found the baptisms for the eldest two (Henry and William) or the youngest (Charles) as yet but hopefully they will turn up.
