Handwriting on Marriage Certificate
« on: Thursday 16 March 17 00:02 GMT (UK) »
Hello
Hoping for some assistance in deciphering the handwriting on this Marriage Certificate please.

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1925/09143/5306739.pdf

Seems 2 sisters, Mary Bennett and Elizabeth Bennett married on same day 14 April 1925.

Seems Mary married John BRYAN?  Do you agree with his profession being Clerk, residence Sovereign St, Clonakilty, father is John Bryan, a shopkeeper?

For Mary, residence is Kilgarriff, Clonakilty, father Thomas Bennett?, farmer.

For Elizabeth, she married William ? (civil records has as DANICY), profession farmer, residence?, father John ?, farmer.

Elizabeth, residence Kilgarriff, Clonakilty, father Thomas Bennett?, farmer.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

I haven't looked at the doc. just reading but I would doubt 2 sisters to make an error on who their father was i.e. my thought is, could they be cousins & the fathers brothers?

Or was the mother previously married with the surname being just a coincidence?

Agree unlikely for the 2 sisters to get their father's name wrong but I'm wanting to confirm (among other things) that their father's name on the Cert is in fact Thomas.  It is a handwriting issue on the Cert.

If others agree it is Thomas, then it fits with other info I have for these 2 girls and father Thomas.

I have now been able to download it (have problems with pdf. for some reason)?

The fathers names look identical to me (comparing them) & probably Thomas on both although I agree with the rest.

Same witnesses too.

Oops sorry, forgot about Elizabeth  ::)

Dancey or Daveny but Dancey (although I've never heard of it) looks more likely?
