« on: Thursday 16 March 17 04:25 GMT (UK) »
William Henry Harry married April 1853 Charlestown , Mary Hancock Minear/Menear.
She was living at Union Rd at the time of her marriage.
I am trying to find her on the  1851 Census.

Look up please.
William was at home Brays Place with his mother and siblings in 1851.

With thanks.

There are a couple of possibilities Lazarus.

Do you have Mary on any other census? When are where was your Mary born? Do you know her parent's names in case she is at home?

One which caught my eye is a Mary Minear, a servant born St Dennis in 1831. Might she be your Mary?

Thank you Ruskie
I think she was bpt 6 Apr 1834 St Austell , base child ? d/o Jane surname quoted Minear.
Profession victualler.Might she have been born 1831? She died South Australia 1911 aged 77.
In 1861 ( Mary H Harry )living Union Rd St Austell aged 26.
Father not confirmed as William Minear died 1832.

Pigots' Directory 1830 for St Austell and neighbourhood shows William Minear under Taverns and Hotels ( Ring of Bells).
This is consistant with bpt. of Mary Minear except that William Minear died two years earlier.
Could he still be her father? Described as base child.
Possible Hancock connection ?

possible in 1851 with names reversed

Union Road, Charlestown HO107/1907 folio 113 pg 4
William Davey head mar 51 miner b. Sheviock
Jane wife 47
William son 13 miner
Mary M Hancock servant 17
John Hore 46 miner
Henry Alsop 40 shoemaker b. Devon, Calstock
all born St Austell except where noted

I was hoping that Jane was Minear before marrying William but she wasn't. This looks to be the marriage -
William Davey married Jenepher Hore 8 Nov 1830 in St Austell.

But the Daveys are still in Union Road in 1861, William, Jenefer, William H, and are next door to William & Mary Harry. RG9/1547 folio 126 pg 29.

Lazarus contacted me as the OPC for St Austell so I have been looking at this today.
I too was intrigued by the Mary Hancock Minear and was looking for her along Union Road.

My idea was that she had adopted the Hancock from a family she was living with but the Mary M Hancock was a good spot.

Thank you everyone for contributing.
I am concluding that Mary , base daughter of Jane Guy) Minear bpt 6 Apr 1834 was Mary M Hancock , a servant living with William Davey and Jane ( Hore) at Trleavens Crooss Lane in 1841 and Union Rd Charlestown with same family in 1851.
The very same person identified as Mary Hancock Minear married my William Henry Harry 18 June 1853.
In 1861 she is Mary H Harry aged 26 living at Union Rd St Austell.

I don't think this yet explains the Hancock connection.
