TBH I think the marriage certificate alone in the first instance would give you plenty of info to be going on with to find his family; obviously if you want to know where he got to after he left your nan, then by all means the death cert as well but that will only show where he was in 1995.

This website gives John Wright Hodgson as son of Arthur Thornton Wright Hodgson & Ellen (Swift)

may be worth contacting the site owner, who seems to have some information....may be even the certificates....

Also states Ellen died in 1978 Church near Accrington, Lancashire - also in Hyndburn and Rossendale  registration district.

Just a thought - have you considered writing to the letters section of a local newspaper to ask if anyone knew him or where he lived?  You sometimes see such requests in small local papers.
