Jeremiah laisell (lots of different spellings) married to Sarah who?
« on: Sunday 19 March 17 22:39 GMT (UK) »
My 5x great grandfather was Edward layzell, born June 1784 in crossing, Essex (found his baptism on SEAX) of Joseph layzell 1742 cressing and Ruth digby 1747 rayne. I have this Joseph as being baptised to Jeremy laiswell (no mother's name). There are no more children baptised until Sarah chalice layzell is baptised to Jeremiah and Sarah layzell in 1762 Cressing. There is also an Edward baptised 1735 to Jeremiah and Sarah lazzell.
Is my Joseph's mother also Sarah? And if so, wonder where they married as cressings marriage records start 1733. I saw on a tree that Jeremiah was born 1709 white notley, but I couldn't see his baptism there.

According to Seax it looks like the Jeremiah Layzell born 1709 was married in White Notley to Elizabeth Harman on 26.09.1734. Both of Cressing!

Hi Mark.
Yes I have that one too ... but no baptisms to a jeremiah and Elizabeth? Unless there are two jeremiahs: one married to an Elizabeth and one to Sarah?

Cressing church is Norman in origin so I suspect all records prior to 1733 have been destroyed.

Well that makes the Sarah baptised 1762 NOT the child of my Jeremiah anyway.

The fact that the Jeremiah and Elizabeth married in White Notley were both "of Cressing" and the lack of Layzell baptisms in WN  makes me think they are your Joseph's parents.
Looking at Joseph's marriage, he signed and very nicely too!
