I discovered that my mother's third cousin lived next door to my father's fifth cousin (on his father's side) in Belleville, Ontario, and that the grandson of that third cousin of my mother's married the great-great-nephew of the husband of my father's 4th cousin twice removed (on his mother's side).

Also that my 2nd cousin twice removed on my father's side (who was also 4th cousin once removed to the fifth cousin mentioned above) married my 2nd cousin 3 times removed on my mother's side.

Phew!
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thankyou Lodger thats amazing.

Was there any Gardiners/Gardners there too. That is where this thread started and would love to know if any of them were buried there too?

Thanks Lodger, this burial info filled in a little bit for me too.
I didn't have the exact death date for James Ford who died in 1891 but, as I said previously, I knew he died between March and July 1891
Burial confirms 21 May 1891

Copied and pasted:
"WILLIAM FORD, Cleland, aged 12 days.
Parents - Alexander Ford & Marion S. Sandilands.
24th October 1896"

Alexander Ford and Marion Sandilands and a number of their children emigrated to Canada in 1910
Alexander was the son of James Ford and Jane/Jean Struthers

Shaun,
I can't locate a death for Andrew Gardner after 1861 but the most obvious birth and parents for him would be: William Gardner and Janet Hart

If I am correct, Andrew was born in Hamilton on 27 Nov 1814

The info is found on FamilySearch
Parents seem to have had a previous child, also named Andrew born in Hamilton in 1806
They also had 2, possibly 3 daughters named Margaret

If the child named Margaret b 1825 was born to the same William Gardner and Janet Hart, it would seem that the family had already moved away from Hamilton, because this girl was born in Barony.

If you recall, Andrew and his family also lived in Glasgow.

Therefore, these is no reason why any Gardners would be buried in Cambusnethan.
They didn't live there

Hi Anne,

Wow thanks. Yes thats brilliant. So Andrews father being called William makes sense, as he was witness at the birth of James. It also fits with the naming convention of Andrews first born son William b. 1841.

Andrew and Margaret also have a daughter Janet which would make sense too.

also yes, that makes sense what you are saying about no Gardiners being buried in Cambusnethan.

Here is a little theory I had. So I have them living in Jeanfield House in 1841. The fact that it was sold to be knocked down for the construction of the cemetary make me think maybe they were forced to move out. in the 1851 Census they are at Foulsykes Farm, Cambusnethan, and John Ford is in the household too. So I imagined that after being turfed out of Jeanfield House when it was sold off, they went to live with Margarets family??, if the Fords were from there. Then they eventually made their way back to Glasgow by 1861 census.

There is something really strange about the family of Andrew Gardner and Margaret Ford.

They were on the 1861 census in Glasgow which has already been posted by Monica but for Reference:
1861 4 Camden St,

Andrew Gardner 46 agr lab. b. Hamilton
Margaret Gardner 39 b. Hamilton
Lillias Gardner 20
Andrew Gardner 16
John Gardner 12
Janet Gardner 8
William Gardner 6
Alexander Gardner 5
Arthur Gardner 3
Margaret Gardner Under 11 Months

We know that they were still in this area at the end of 1862 because daughter Isabella was born here in Nov 1862

1871
There is no sign of this family anywhere. Perhaps they weren't enumerated?

1881  560a, New City Road,  Govan, Glasgow

Margaret Gardner   59
Andrew Gardner   53  EDIT: This says son, born Glasgow
Alexander Gardner   26
Arthur Gardner   23
Margaret Gardner   21
Isabella Gardner   19

1891: 67 Henderson Street, Maryhill/Kelvin, Glasow

Name   Age
Margaret Gardiner   63
Andrew Gardiner   42 Son ( should be 36)
Alex Gardiner   35
Margaret Gardiner   30

1901: 67 Seamore Street, Maryhill/Kelvin, Glasgow
Margaret Gardiner   76
Andrew Gardiner   49
Margaret Gardiner   38

Is this Andrew's death? It's in the right area
GARDNER
ANDREW
60
1867
644/10 1077
Hutchesontown

Wow yeah their ages seem to be all over the place on the census transcribes dont they.

Interesting. If that is oir Andrew who died 1867 then perhaps Margaret gave her Maiden name to register in 1871. I know she is still marked as a Ford in the 1851 census and that was after they got married. Maybe she thought she had to give her maiden name if her husband had passed?

Camden Street would have been in Hutchesontown, which is south of the river, and an extension of the Gorbals district.

Number 560 New City Road (not in Govan) would have been a few minutes walk from Seamore Street; and Henderson Street a few minutes further on, all in the north-west part of the city. Quite a distance from Camden St.
