Rev Joseph Batchellor
« on: Tuesday 28 March 17 10:37 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out what happened to Rev Joseph Batchellor, christened 8/11/1754, Trowbridge, son of Rev William Batchellor, Rector of Tellisford and curate of Freshford.
Ordained deacon; 20/7/1777 Wells. Amongst his ordaination papers in the SRO is a letter from his father appointing him as his curate at Tellisford.
He married 30/8/1777 Freshford, Lucy Pine, widow of Simon Pine, artist and engraver.
After this the trail goes cold. However, there is a reference to a Mrs Lucy Batchellor paying parish rates in Bath in 24/6/1781.
I can find no reference to any further clerical appointments, or legacies in the later PCC wills of his siblings. Intriguingly a sister married a Charleston lawyer and emigrated to South Carolina.
