1871 Census lookup for - Margaret Worthington
« on: Saturday 08 April 17 08:40 BST (UK) »
Hi all.  Hope someone can help me.  I am trying to locate my 4th great grandmother in any 1871 UK Census.  At the time of the 1871 census she was a widow called Margaret Worthington, (born in Scotland)  She would be a Mariner's Widow.  I have her in the 1861 census living at 7 Middle St in Bishopwearmouth.  I also have her in the 1881 census living at 11 Mechanics Yard in Darlington, County Durham.  There she is described as an Annuitant.  Would love love to know where Margaret was in 1871.  Hope somebody can assist?....Many thanks

Hi

No birthyear given.

I will ask moderator to move post to Durham board as Margaret appears to be resident there in 1861/1881

The 1871 is free on Family Search

Were any of her relatives named Hogget?  May be under Margaret Weathington in Bishopwearmouth, a widow.  Ancestry has her age as 55 but I think it is 65.  Says her birthplace was Sunderland but we know how accurate the census is.  RG10/4999 Folio 37 pg 8

Actually the wife of James Hogget Margaret in this census maiden name was Sergbine and that was Margaret Worthington maiden name right?  Married Thomas Worthington in 1835.  So she was a relative.
