« on: Wednesday 12 April 17 18:37 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for the baptism and parents of Jack Gill who was listed as 25 in the 1841 Census  and was according to the 1851 census born in Orwell. If anyone has access to these Parish Rcords I wold appreciate a Lookup.

Many thanks

David ;)

David, think you are looking for John not Jack.

Ages rounded down in 1841 Census so born 1812 to 1816 and this baptism would match:

John Gill bp.11/4/1813 Orwell, Cambridgeshire, son of James and Mary (on familysearch).

Gi Annette

Many thanks for the baptism of John Gill, was there any sign of the marriage of James and Mary.

Kind Regards

David :D

David, I posted on your other thread last night with this info.

Bapt and marriage of parents can be found on freereg, see reply #1 for link to your other thread.

https://www.freereg.org.uk/

Sometimes it is better to keep all info on one thread, rather than start a new one for each generation. Easier for you as info is all in same place, also it avoids people duplicating info you already have. Or is connected.

On freereg just put in surname no first name, put in Cambridgeshire and Orwell no dates, and all BMD

You should get all the info for Gill in Orwell.

Most marriages, bapts and some burials are there for your lot.

John bapt is 1813. James would be his father, try https://familysearch.org/search the more you research different sites the easier research becomes, if the records are there. Much more satisfying to find your own kin. If you get stuck, Rootchatters will always try help.

Good luck

Hi Cas

James Gill appears in the 1851 Census as born in Gamlingay in 1877. I have tried blind searches for gill in Orwell and Gamlingay as you suggested. You have been most helpful, but I wondered if you had any other suggestions about where i could l9ook.

Many thanks

David
