Help reading address
« on: Thursday 13 April 17 08:29 BST (UK) »
This is from the (1855) Birth cert of William's daughter. Gives his place of birth as Parish of ?????dale
Confusing as his 1871 Census gives his place of Birth as Bolton.

Heywood - I thought the same  :)

Baptism: 29 Apr 1810 St Mary and All Saints, Goodshaw, Lancashire, England
William Farbrother - Son of John Farbrother & Alice
     Born: 12 Mar 1810
     Abode: Goodshawfold

Goodshawfold is in Rossendale - just googled it  - so that above baptism could be our man ??

The one who is in the Bolton area seems to show Adlington in earlier censuses though which is Chorley/Bolton.  ???

Do you have the right match of birth and census.

Never thought to check the occupation. The one I was looking at is a Coal Miner in 1851  ::)

here you go - his father John was a printer as well
http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html

Baptism: 6 Nov 1814 St Mary and All Saints, Goodshaw, Lancashire, England
Mary Ann Fairbrother - [Child] of John Fairbrother & Alice
     Abode: Goodshawfold
     Occupation: Printer
     Baptised by: George Haworth
     Register: Baptisms 1813 - 1829, Page 4, Entry 32
     Source: LDS Film 2113083

the only marriage I can find in that area is this for a John and Alice in the right time frame
Marriage: 6 Apr 1806 St Thomas the Martyr, Upholland, Lancashire, England
 John Fairbrother - Bachelor, Orrell
 Alice Westley - Spinster, Orrell
     Witness: Luke Foster; Robt. Bolton
     Banns Read: 2 Mar 1806, 2nd: 9 Mar 1806, 3rd: 16 Mar 1806
Married by Banns by: T Meyrick
     Register: Marriages 1785 - 1812, Page 167, Entry 665

agree with Heywood - the Adlington ,Bolton William is not the same man as the Goodshawfold William ....I would say the Goodshaw man - with father also as a Printer looks like your William
