COMPLETED: Help with Scottish death certificate
« on: Thursday 13 April 17 23:34 BST (UK) »
I've been trying to track down some more information on my direct ancestors by researching their children and recently asked ScotlandsPeople for a rescan of the attached document. It's much clearer now and I can get all the details I need, but I'm a little confused by one word. I'm pretty sure it's 'resend' but I was just wondering if anyone could confirm that for me and, if possible, give an explanation for why it's on there. It might just be a simple clerical note but I just wanted to be sure I'm not missing anything.

The entry is the last one, for Susan Russel (nee Alexander) and the word in question is in the informant section.

Many thanks in advance!

Doesn't it say he was 'Present' (when she died, presumably)?

... that makes so much more sense. I don't know why my mind was fixated on it being 'resend'  ::)

Thank you!

Hi.

It's actually the word 'present' in brackets, indicating that her husband Thomas Russell was present at her death.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

David

Thanks David!

I think it's a good sign I should go to bed when I start misreading words I've seen written on tens of other similar documents!
