Yes, Sadly it is

I have just had a look at 1911 census where Minnie's parents are listed, the mother is listed as "husbands Slave", I had to zoom in to make sure I had it right, I have got it right, well what an absolute hoot, never in all my years of this lark have I seen anything like that

Just saw the 1911 as well!! Gotta love it!

They're transcribed as RUSE (A*try) 1901.

In addition to Jolee's reply here is a quote from Southend Roll of Honour By Jarvis 'Jim Quy lived at Sutton, and from his school days was employed by Mr. W.H. Huntley, first at Dengie Hall and then at Sutton Hall where his parents had been employed for almost twenty years, He then worked at Temple Farm and later at Kynock's as a stoker. He joined the Navy in 1917 and was lost when HMS Racoon sank in a storm off the north-west coast of Ireland on 9th January 1918. He was 26 years old and left a widow and a son of nearly three.'

Thank you very much for the extra information, that is most useful, I know he lived in Fobbing because his child was baptised there and I also think a child was buried in the churchyard, we all thought he might have worked on the land  at Fobbing, Kynock is in  Corringham /Fobbing area. St Michael's Fobbing has a memorial to him in the church along with I think 3 or 4 others who lost their lives during the war

Huge thank you

Hi

Just a thought maybe they were married in a registry office I based this thought on the marriage in March quarter of 1915 and a birth in the same quarter of a child mother Rose in Orsett district there is death that fits this child in 1992 so I am unable to put his name is case of living relatives.

Edward Alfred Quy was baptised 06/05/1917 father Jim mother Minnie, there is a burial record for him in the September quarter of 1917 age 0 same district

The children appear to have been baptised at St Michael's Fobbing and one child I believe is buried within the churchyard, it is at St Michael's that there is a plaque on the wall of the church along with a couple of others who died in WW1 , this is where there is a poppy wreath is laid every year

the page range for Mar 1915 is 959-1055, the entry you are after (1001) is sort of in the middle so hard to determine whether a late in the quarter parish marriage or early in the quarter registrar attended/register office.
