http://www.interment.net/data/eng/durham/st_john/index.htm Is this the Interment.net burial list you looked at? It says 'this is not a complete listing of burials'. I'd suggest it is a list compiled while one particular person was investigating their family history.

Durham cemeteries on durham council site.

I didn't know you could search for burials on the Durham County Council Site - please could you give a link to the search page?  :)

All I can say is as I am not good at link type Durham county Council into your browser along with cemeteries and a list of burial in a number of cemeteries come up that you can check.
The same thing with internment.net
I was not aware this was not a full list of burials in all the cemeteries listed.
Brandon I checked on this site and langley park as a possibility on the durhan site

Is this what you mean? http://www.durham.gov.uk/article/2239/Burial-registers

I hadn't seen these before, but I'm not convinced they are all a complete record. I have relatives who I know are buried at Blackhill, Castleside and Hare Law  (I have seen the registers) and none of them appear on these online registers.

However, the one for Meadowfield Cemetery at Brandon does seem to cover the time period you're interested in and he doesn't appear to be there.

The interment.net records for the churchyard most definitely aren't complete, and it says so on the relevant page.

Saint John Cemetery
Brandon, Durham, England

This cemetery is is very old and part of it has been closed off due to subsidence. It is on Pit Lane, Brandon, County Durham.

This is not a complete listing of burials! The records below were provided by contributors to Cemetery Records Online. Total records = 118.

http://www.interment.net/data/eng/durham/st_john/index.htm

I think you need to see if he is in the churchyard rather than the cemetery. He seems to have been quite an important man locally - there might possibly be a gravestone  :-\
