Where did they disappear to?
« on: Friday 21 April 17 10:35 BST (UK) »
On the 1871 census I have found James;

James Williams age 25
Catharine Williams wife age 25
Catharine Williams age 11 months daughter
Mary Edwards age 14

James was born in 1845, parents James and Mary farmers
In 1861 James is living at home
None of James's siblings (including himself) births were registered but all baptised.

Can find no marriage for James and Catharine or birth reg for daughter.  After 1871 James, wife Catharine and daughter seem to have disappeared

Any help would be appreciated, one reason being I would like to order a marriage certificate to check I have the right James and who he married.

Looks like from your replies that we have 2 different families.  The James Williams I am researching was born in Olveston from a farming family.  Not sure what happened to him after 1861 until I came across the 1871 census.  A bit confused about the Catharine's marriage in 1898, its the daughter this marriage refers to, if so wrong father unless James altered his name to John.  I have looked at the FreeBMD for a marriage with no luck also for a birth reg for daughter Catharine on both FreeBMD and GRO Record site.
