CRIMINALS IN PERTH

Hi there.

I've just discovered a lead that may mean my 4x great grandfather was a criminal. David Brand was accused in 1819 for housebreaking along with a Alexander Spittal. This fact is quite interesting, as David's (my David) wife was named Janet Spittal. According to the record, he was a carter in Culross, Perthshire, as was Alexander.
Does anyone know anywhere that I could look for records or find out what happened to people who commit those crimes in Scotland?

Culross was later transferred to Fife, might be useful?
