McVities biscuits
« on: Wednesday 03 May 17 21:10 BST (UK) »
I have discovered that William McVitie was involved in a court case in 1824-Ref CS44/61/2 - Simon Simpson v Jane Green or McVitie and William mcVitie and understand that he lost the case and faced considerable damages. Unfortunately I have no further information and have been unable to travel to Edinburgh to check this out because of family commitments. Likewise there is another case CS46/1833/1/38- William McVitie v James Smith for which I have no details whatsoever.

If anyone has any information  it would be greatly appreciated.

I think all the parties you have are mentioned here http://agenealogyhunt.blogspot.co.uk/2010/05/part-276s-smith-robertson-genealogy.html Long old read!

Many thanks Monica - I have read this information but still am looking for the reasons for the Court Cases - the rulings and the penalties imposed. Hope to get to Edinburgh to follow this up in June if not before
