Can anyone please tell me what this word says before labourer?

I think it says Quay Labourer.

I also thought Quay labourer.
We were taught to write a 'Q' like that (rather like a number 2) in the 'good old days'

Also looks like Quay to me. That's how I was taught to write a "Q" when learning cursive.

Probably you're too young Carol - as Jenifer said, we of a certain age were taught to do Qs like that
