Brentford Births
« on: Friday 12 May 17 11:53 BST (UK) »
Unsure where to put this query.

On looking for a Martin birth in Brentford,1919 [mother unmarried born 1884] now found and confirmed. Then found that following 1911 to 1927 have unearthed another nine births listed all with the same surname Martin.

Have not yet looked at prior to when birth mothers name not entered.

Would it be feasible that some or all of these could be adoptions, all organised by the same person.
This period was well before any legislation came in to control adoptions.
Can anybody throw any light on this.Prefer not to post any more details for privacy reasons,
Thanks Brionne.

Hallo
http://www.bhsproject.co.uk/
Have you seen this site.
There is a lot of info on it and someone might be able to help you.
Have a look all through.

Ps  re adoption. You are right, There was no  adoption  legislation then.

An infant was left on my great grandmother's doorstep in Brentford End in 1900 . Who he was is a mystery as on  one  census Birthplace is given as unknown and on another as Tunbridge Wells.
She "adopted" him,
