Parish Records look up - Thomas Gwillim b. 1834
« on: Saturday 13 May 17 04:21 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Wondering if anyone was able to assist me with Parish Records check in regard to our relation
Thomas Gwillim (Gwilliam) b. 7.10.1834 Llangarren, son of Thomas Gwillim and Rachel Williams.
His mother Rachel died in 1836 aged 37 years.  After she died, it appears that he was living with another family at Whitchurch, and then later in 1843, his Father Thomas re-married a Susannah Haines at Monmouth.

There is a death at Monmouth in 1844 of a Thomas Gwillim, no age given on BDM, but trying to connect this Thomas up with his Father Thomas.  At this stage, cannot find young Thomas in 1851 census, so it is possible he died previously.    It would seem logical that Thomas then moved to Monmouth from Whitchurch on his father's marriage.

So basically I am checking to see who the parents are of this Thomas Gwillim, maybe confirm that they were Thomas Gwillim and Rachel (nee Williams).

I have copy of Parish records for Thomas & Susannah's marriage, they were married at the Parish Church, Monmouth,  Thomas was a Servant to the Clergyman.

Thanking you.

Amazing the different spellings for the Gwilliams (Gwillim, Gwillym, Guerlemm)

My aging and fallible memory tells me that a Whitchurch and a Llantrissant are adjacent areas of Cardiff.
Richard Wernham (Berkshire 18th century),
William Hissey (1805 to 1813, Hampstead Norris),
Kapirin (Siberia 19th Century),

Not the one I was referring to.  Cardiff is the Capital city of Wales, it is situated in Glamorgan (in OLD South Wales!) Whitchurch and Llantrissant are (I believe) adjoining districts within the Cardiff conurbation now - they might have ben separate towns in the 1850s.
Whitchurch is a suburb and community in the north of Cardiff, capital of Wales. It is approximately 3 miles north of the centre of the city
I have been unable to get google to tell me anything sensible about Llantrissant.

Thank you Pejic, really I am still trying to confirm the parents of this Thomas Gwellian, unfortunately still don't have that information, was hoping that Llantrissent is in Monmouth.
