Any information on the Carr family of Duxbury?
« on: Tuesday 16 May 17 00:19 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for some information about the family of my 4th great-grandfather, John Carr. As I understand it, there is some sort of noble connection of the Carr family who came from Duxbury, which is where my ancestor was born. But since my 4X great-grandfather was a stonemason by trade, I doubt it could be *that* 'noble' of a family, haha.

Here is his line:

John Carr (b. 28 Oct 1806, Duxbury, Lancs.) -----> the son of Christopher Carr (b. 16 Aug 1760, Whittle-le-Woods) and Mary Hale ------> who was the son of Richard Carr (b. Abt 1730 of Leyland) and Margaret Howard.

My Carr line hits a brick wall at Richard Carr of Leyland, who was born about 1730. If there is anyone who has information on this line in my family, it would be greatly appreciated.  :)

Yes about to do the same, still alive on 1841 Census!

May I ask where you got this from Darren H?
 Christopher Carr (b. 16 Aug 1760, Whittle-le-Wood)

The 1838 will of Standish of Duxbury included -

" ... the estates devolve upon the testator's second cousin and heir-at-law, William Standish Carr, Esq, of Cocken Hall, in the County of Durham, who, in obedience to a stipulation contained in the will, has applied for her Majesty's sanction to assume the sirname and arms of Standish of Duxbury ...".

@Rosie: Yes, that is my Christopher Carr. :)

@Trish: I have a baptism record for him -- he's not in the Lancashire parish records online, but I found a certificate for him through the Ancestry website -- he was actually baptised at Heapey, not Whittle-le-Woods (that's where his parents lived and where he was presumably born).

Thanks to everyone for their commentary!

Sorry, It may seem like commentary but when families are moving around and using different parishes for their bmd's the extra information helps us to look for your missing baptism. From the entries posted we have added Chorley & Standish to the places you originally mentioned and we need to consider.  ;D

When/where did Richard Carr die and was there an age at death
