BOUGHTON ALUPH / EASTWELL baptism look up request
« on: Wednesday 17 May 17 06:29 BST (UK) »
If someone has access to Boughton Aluph & Eastwell Parish records, looking for baptism of Sarah KENNETT between 1700-1730.  Also a Peter AMIS/AMOS 1640-1660.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry not Boughton Aluph or Eastwell but there is a baptism for a Sarah Kennet at Wye as follows

1708 Oct 12 Sarah Kennet d/o Richard & Elizabeth.

There appear to be 8 other baptisms at Wye to the same parents (between 1700 and 1713) before the family seems to move to Boughton Aluph where a further 6 children are baptised up to 1725.

There is a baptism at Wye as follows (transcription only)

1639 July 10 Peter AMIS s/o John and Amy

Unfortunately there are various notes and letters inserted in the Wye Register, obscuring the original as filmed!  These relate to a baptism of a Peter Amies ye son of Aphara the daughter of John and Amy, dated 1640 July 10.  This note continues "This is thought to be the baptismal register of the lady who became famous as Mrs Aphra Beha the first female novelist."

Sadly this does not scan and further notes dispute this etc. etc.

Thanks Tony for your help.  This may well be my Sarah Kennet.  From Wye parish burial transcripts I've seen a Peter Amis & Aphara Amis were buried soon after christening.  Both recorded as child of John.

Cheers

Below I have set out various records (mostly indexed) (as found) that appear to be from the family of Richard Kennett (of Wye) and Elizabeth Austen (of Newington next Hythe) who married, by Licence, on 2 October 1699 at Stowting.

WYE Baptisms

1700 Elizabeth d/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT Yeoman
1701 Richard s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT
1703 Richard s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT
1704 Mary d/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT
1707 John s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT
1708 Oct 12 Sarah d/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNET
1711 William s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT
1712 Egerton s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT
1713 Catherine d/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNETT

BOUGHTON ALUPH Baptisms

1717 John s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNET
1718 Amy d/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNET
1720 Thomas s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNET
1723 Egerton s/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNET
1725 Mar Catherine d/o Richard & Elizabeth KENNET

WYE Burial

1749 Dec 28 Richard KENNET from Boughton Aluph

Richard Kennett of Boughton Aluph left a Will made in 1745 and probated in 1749.

Maybe of some help,
Tony
