There is a medal card for a Christopher BYRNE Reg#2211
He was in the Irish Guards
He enlisted 01/02/1905
and was discharged 30/04/1916
Reason Wounds; para 392 xvi KR

I know KR stands for King's Regulations - some one with a better military knowledge would be able to tell what "para 392 xvi"  refers to

Looking at the other thread he enlisted 1905, it might be worth having a look for him in the English 1911 Census, my grand uncle in the Irish Guards is in that census. Might help with his age.

Hi, he does appear in the 1911 england census aged 24 and a general labourer born Dublin. Whilst it also shows his "wife" Emma they did not marry until 1918. She was Emma Button born Woodchurch Kent.

This census return shows that he they were married for three years
It would be very unusual to be in the army and assume a marriage as you were required to get permission to marry.
Have you the civil marriage certificate to Emma Button in 1918?
Is it possible he was a widower and was married three times?

Also was this a church wedding? if in a catholic church he would have required a "letter of freedom" from his home parish - there may be a record of this in the church and would give his baptism details

Hi, whilst the 1911 census records Christopher and Emma as married for 3 years this is a "fib". They married in 1918 in the register office in Farnham. The address given at the time of marriage for both was 13 B SQUARE, STANHOPE LINES ALDERSHOT. This is a barracks address, Christophers occ at the marriage was Store Keeper. Also just to confirm that when they married Emma records her father as John Button a farm labourer. On the 1911 census Emma's place of birth is Woodchurch Kent. This is confirmed by the 1891 census for both pob and father. So Christopher only married twice. I dont seem to be getting notice of postings so if I do not reply straight away please excuse.

John

he is not in barracks on 1911 census.
