Uniform Identification Taken at Stonehouse Corner
« on: Sunday 28 May 17 16:08 BST (UK) »
I was wondering if anybody might be able to identify what the uniform is in these photos?

Unfortunately I have no idea on location, only that the group photo was taken on the 6 August 1942.

I would be grateful for any ideas, many kind thanks.

It's a WAAF uniform.

RAF eagle visable on top of the arm back row far right. WAAF officer between the 2 sergeants has brooches on the lapels, they could be medical but not sure, none of the others have though. Can't see them clearly enough.

Good afternoon,

WAAF ww2 uniform. Too many doors and bay windows to be barracks so maybe married quarters near the barracks.

Corporal at the front looks like she's signals as there's a badge above her stripes.

Never seen quarters like that in UK. All have been terraces or semis and not that high, most pre WW2.

There is a boy to the left, may be playing cricket. Are they in a civilian area?

Many thanks for the replies, very much appreciated.

Only possible clue to the possible location is another photo from the same album. On the back it is written "Treetops 22-29 Aug 1943." I am guessing the photo is a social scene?

There are two other photographs dated April 1945 that has written on the reverse "FIBERITE department" whatever that was. The people in these photos are in civilian clothing and a mix of men and women.

The WAAF group photo looks like a sea front location.

The one with the dartboard could be the Treetops holiday camp near Albury in Surrey.

FIBERITE was used to make cartons and packing cases, The word "Fiberite" was a registered trade mark of Thames Board Mills Ltd.

The cap badge is also different to those of the other WAAFs. I assume it's an officer's badge but I couldn't find an equivalent in a Google Image search.

I have tried to blow up parts of the image.

That is the best I can get for the lady with the different cap badge. I also tried to see if I could make out the hotel/guest house name in case their could provide some form of identification.

Many thanks
