For the birth location you need to look for an address or townland on the records. The baptism should say where the family were living at the time of the baptism, the birth register entry should say the location of the birth. All the different names and alternative names can be confusing as can be the different land divisions.

Civil parish information for Touraneena RC parish:-

Civil parish information for Cappoquin RC parish:-

The Poor Law Union (PLU) is generally the same as the Registration District (RD). Under the RD are sub-districts (SRD)- sometimes Familysearch list the RD and sometimes the (SRD) which can be confusing.

On a birth registration page both the RD and SRD will be listed at the top but the exact place of birth (usually a townland, street or workhouse) will show on each entry.

There's no connection between the civil divisions and the Catholic Parish. If you can post a link to the birth in question it will be easier to explain it to you.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

thank you Blue 70 and Aghadowey for your replies. Yes, the plu and the registration districts usually are the same, (as i too thought). But at times not too often? i find they are not the same. The civil  birth record shows the townland as  ballynaguilkee which per the link supplied by Blue 70 states is in the civil parish of seskinan. I do know of a cross reference of a civil parish to a "catholic" parish and seskinan civil parish is referred to the catholic parish of Touraneena .  So this answers my question why the baptism took place in Touraneena and Not Cappoquin parish.  thank you both again....yanks
