Hi

I am trace the origins of this man who married Lizzie Balkham in Eastbourne RDin 1908 and by 1911 had moved to Woolwich RD where his son Donald was born. I think he may have been born in St Saviour R D in 1879 but I need confirmation of date and place of borth. Any help would be much appreciated.

According to the 1911 he was born in Hampshire. Free BMD have a Henry Charles born 1868 in Alverstoke. By using the new search index on GRO you should be able to find out his mother's maiden name.
I would suggest sending for the marriage certificate to confirm details.

many thanks for your valuable help. I have now found that his parents were Frederick Brunon and Sophia James Whitley who married in Greenwicyh i 1863. I wondered if you might be able to tell me where andf when Freferick was born.

Sophia and Frederick can be found on the 1881 census with his parents RG11 1979 72 6
From the information contained there you should be able to confirm the information you requested.

That marriage was at the parish church in Woolwich. Frederick Brunton was a soldier, a driver in the Royal Artillery, father William, a tailor.

Frederick's army records have survived and record his place of birth as East Dereham in Norfolk, circa 1841.

Thanks for all your useful help. The only birth that would fit on the Free BMD site is the Frederick born in The Mitford RD in 1845, this includes East Dereham. Do you have access to the 1851 census for a Frederick Brunton born 1841/5 son of William in the Norfolk area please.
