Hello RootsChat.

I'd love if someone can look up a specific 1939 Register for me just to double check something.

I'm looking up a couple named Percy M Rice and Elizabeth E Crossland. They are living with their daughter Hilda Annie Rice in 1939. Hilda later becomes a Gibson.

On the Register its been transcribed to say Percy's name is actually Percy E Rice born in 1874 and Elizabeth, although no name errors born in 1892. I understand large age differences happen but I'd like a double check as I can't find an Elizabeth E born in 1892 or any Elizabeth to match mine in the slightly.

Hopefully just a double check doesn't break any rules.

Lookups on that resource are not permitted.

The 1939 Register is covered by copyright, and lookups are not allowed.

All we can tell you is what is on the free Index Search.

You are supposed to dig deep, and pay the fees! ;D

I see that Hilda's (and her younger brother b 1926) mother's maiden name was Crossland.

Have you not found a marriage for Percy Rice and Elizabeth Crossland?

Before we had the luxury of the 1939 register we used to use dates of birth at death as a guide.

Their marriage...

Marriages Sep 1918   

Crossland    Elizabeth E   to Rice    Mansfield    7b   234   
Rice    Percy M   to Crossland    Mansfield    7b   234   

You might be able to find him serving in WW1.

It's only the end of your tree if:

1. You aren't prepared to spend a little money. (We all have spent a lot of money on our hobby).
2. You are only interested in coming forwards, rather than back in time.
(Personally I have no interest in living relatives ;D)

I presume that as you are asking for a second opinion that you do actually have access to the 1939 register? If so I suggest that you look very carefully at the image of the year as I think it is a mistranscription.

Could it say Percy E Rice for the marriage in 1918? Rather than Percy M. Letters are not too clear (he is Perey on ancestry), some of the capital E's look a bit like M's.
