im thinking middle letter is x with mark scrawled underneath so hard to make out first name.

Looking at other examples in the same dataset  I think this is most likely Jane Chester rather than Jean.

I'm torn between Jean and Jane and the middle letter looks like an F to me , agree with Chester .

As Bookbox and Angie have suggested the middle letter is not an initial. It is her mark "X".
