Precise location of "Place Graden" in Linton...?
« on: Thursday 15 June 17 18:12 BST (UK) »
A family I'm researching appears in Linton parish and RD on the 1861 Census, with "Place Graden" in the Road/Street/Name of House column. Looking at maps from the early 1900s, I can see "Old Graden," "Graden Moor," and "Graden," but am curious about where, exactly, "Place Graden" might have been.

Any suggestions or ideas about how and where I might find the info?

Hi Paperqueen,

The attached shows the location of Place Graden (http://maps.nls.uk/view/74400132) to the SW of Hoselaw Loch in the NE of Linton Parish.

"Graden", and "Place Graden"  appear to be the same location.

Regards

This is wonderful, Istrice--thank you! And yes, it appears to be on the same site as "Graden" from the later map.

I can see there are plenty o' fabulous maps I need to peruse....
