Brisbane Death Amy GARSTER

Hello,
I have been researching my grandfather - William Mortimer GARSTER, son of William Reynolds GARSTER. William Reynolds was born in the Shetland Islands and was a seaman that somehow ended up in Brisbane and married Amy Wright at Gertrude Street, Highgate Hill, Brisbane, Australia, on the 3rd of December either 1894 or 1895. She apparently died while giving birth to my grandfather William Mortimer GARSTER  I have found reference in the Brisbane Telegraph that Amy died Sept 30 1895. However my Grandfathers obituary list a birth date of 1896 so there is a discrepancy.

Since Amy is my maternal great Grandmother any information would be appreciated. Thank You.

Hi,

His 1917 US WW1 Draft Registration Card in Juneau, Alaska has his birth as 10th July 1895, Brisbane Australia.

William Reynolds went back to sea after 1900 on the Australian Coast and the Pacific Islands  for a few years as a GS (steward?) on the SS Warrego  (maybe other vessels) and ended up in Alaska before 1910.

The Queensland State Electoral Roll for 1900 has the following.
Electoral District of South Brisbane.
Garster William Reynolds, 26, Stanley Street, 2 doors from Tribune Street, grocer, qualified by residence, 3rd July 1899.

(26 would have been at the time of registration)

So it appears from searching both the Qld BDM's and other sources that the marriage was on 3 Dec 1894; Wm was born 10 Jul 1895 and Amy died 29 Sep 1895.  Her death certificate would give you her cause of death.
