When enlarged it does look like the third letter has a curve at the top, so Bookbox could be right with Drover

Second letter looks like an 'a' to me. I think we would need a bigger image and more of the person's writing to compare.

At 200% and 400% it is Dxxver    It looks like Daover which is nonsense, so Drover looks more probable.

What country is involved?

Dawn M
Denys (France); Rossier/Rousseau (Switzerland); Montgomery (Antrim, IRL & North Sydney NSW);  Finn (Co.Carlow, IRL & NSW); Wilson (Leicestershire & NSW); Blue (Sydney NSW); Fisher & Barrago & Harrington(all Tipperary, IRL)

Second letter looks like an 'a' to me.

It does to me too.

Could the first letter be a C  ??? occupation Carver.

Are there other capital letters on the m/c that begin with a D or C to compare ?

Do you have the person on any censuses to check their occupation?

Larkspur is the marriage within the time of a Census where you could compare the said person's occupation?

Thank you for all the replies.
Sorry its not bigger, beyond my scope to manage that I am afraid  :-\
I am looking at Newark, Nottinghamshire.
Thanks Stan used your tip!
The marriage was 1856.
1851 census he was 16 and no occupation listed. His step father is a chain cottoner, so no help there.
1861 census he was a butchers labourer.
I too, am pretty sure the first letter is a D as it is the same as in Deceased under both fathers names.
