The reason behind the couple living apart in 1881 could be explained by newspaper report in Bradford Observer 3rd July 1873
At Leeds Town Hall on 2nd July 1873 a William Dixon (hawker ) was charged with assaulting his wife he claimed she was not his wife and demanded to see a marriage certificate he was jailed for 2 months he left court making a very loud noise abusing the prosecutrix vehemently /
This probably explains the difficulty of finding a marriage record now
