Hi everybody,

Just wondering if anyone has access to the records of pupils who attended the Middle District School which was situated in Stuart Street, Dunedin, in the 1870's.

I am interested in one Alice GALBRAITH.

The following Hocken listing says...

"Pupil rolls for the Beach Street and Middle District schools were reported lost by 'Arthur Street School Jubilee Souvenir 1877-1927', Dunedin, 1928, page 8."

It also says...

[...] Arthur Street School Jubilee Souvenir 1877-1927 [...] provides rolls of students from 1856, who attended the 1927 jubilee (pages 16-20).

... so maybe looking through pages 16-20 at the NatLib might be worthwhile. Your Alice might be mentioned.

NZETC says Middle District school was demolished in 1878, moved to a new site around the corner and was then known as Arthur Street school.

The Hocken listing I mentioned above has links (in the left-hand column) to multiple Arthur Street School AP&W registers. These are all 1879 and later but maybe your Alice was still attending and gets a mention.
