You generally need a location in order to see what resources survive/are available. Not all information is online but Bill Macafee has put together many resources from Ballymoney and surrounding area to give you an idea of what might be found (see link in reply #4). However, your problem will be in making a link from your known ancestor to a family in Ireland.

I was up late last night and reading message boards and finding others who have searched this same line. Most of them said their reasearch lead them to the Ballymoney area of Antrim Northern Ireland. I am studying these hearth rolls but figuring out how to connect these families is not easy to say the least.

You ancestor may or may not have come from Ballymoney area but finding online trees/posts isn't really proof of anything. Unfortunately these days errors are copied from one tree to another like some sort of giant virus.

I get that but it's all i really have to work with right now. I have looked at the census record that Bill Macafee put up,  but I can't see how much help that can give me right now since im still in the mid - late 1700s when great grandfather Daniel Kirgan was born.

you might be on the brickwall stage that eventually all family history encounters. in my case I kept a note of all earlier likely relatives and eventually paused, still interested but that is why I remain trying to help others.

Yes I hope you are not being given red herrings by me.  at the time I looked up those references for you I reminded myself on what the name sounds like.. My ear produced Carragin. I forgot about it but perhaps it’s the now the time to mention it eg
back to more tithes
Carrigain, Hugh-Townland: Antrim Gardens (Scotch Dr. North) Year: 1833-Antrim-Antrim
Carrigan, Hugh-Townland: Trummety Hugh Carrigan -Templemore {1823-38}-Derry
Carrigan, Neal-Townland: Feenagh Year: 1827-Cumber Lower-Derry
Carrigan, Owen-T: Corneany Y: 1825-Desertcreat-Tyrone
Carrigan, Patt.-T: Corneany Y: 1825-Desertcreat-Tyrone

look up https://www.johngrenham.com for more ideas perhaps

No your not giving me any Red Herrings. I just can't find as much as a brother or cousin to My Great Grandfather Daniel Kirgan. I have looked at the cenus records avaliable but they are very hard for my bad eye sight to read and it gets frustrating.  I figured if I could some how find a cousin of his that would crack the brick wall. I have had several brick walls that i've had to crack but this one just stops dead in its tracks with no other information to go on.
