Hello,

On 30/09/1851 John GAZE sailed from Launceston aboard the Gem bound for Moreton Bay, having completed his servitude and being awarded a Certificate of Freedom on 05/04/1850.

Afterwards there is every possibility he migrated to Victoria and could have married Mary Ann MARSHALL. The couple had many children, about 7, all seemingly born in the town of Amphitheatre. He appears to have died in 1880 aged 52, where unknown, but birth place shown as Norwich. The Victorian BDM records and TROVE are presently unavailable (maintenance work!!) and I wonder if SKS could help in the circumstances and confirm any of the information relating to the above.

VICBDM working fine, but not Trove.

They married in 1853

Thank you both for the information.

Sadly, matthewj64 seems to have scuppered thoughts of the above John GAZE being my answer in that his parents according to the cemetery records were John and Mary, whereas his actual parents were Benjamin and Elizabeth.

There are online trees for the family of Benjamin and Elizabeth. On one, you'll find their John deceased in 1825, in Norfolk.
