Presentation closed by Windows

Hey guys, hoping someone can help me out here.
 
Here is an issue i'm having:
 
Open a presentation which was emailed to me in PowerPoint 2013 and i'm always getting the below error message: POWERPOINT.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
 
Office 2016 is getting same error.
 
I am running Windows 8.1

So how to open or repair PowerPoint presentation?
 
Any help would be appreciated.

You could try this:

I've never used it but MS claims it repairs damaged PP files.
As you're getting the same problem in PP 2013 & MS Office 2016 it's probably the file that was sent to you.
You could also try doing a simple presentation yourself & sending to your email address & see if that's ok or not.

Searching for the error message is always worth a try.  Others will have had your problem.  Try this:
