I am amazed how easy it is to blindly follow research others have done on the Ancestry only to come up with incorrect details and even people!

The problem with Ancestry trees is they throw up so many possible hints which some people just add without checking, then others copy their trees also without checking.

Thanks for your thoughts on the question whether they would be buried together. It now appears there were at least 10 years between the deaths but I need to confirm this with a death certificate.

He was described as a pawper/former sawyer so maybe a headstone was not affordable. It's good to know that headstones are not to be expected.

I mailed the clerk at the parish church for further information.

Thanks again.

The search continues for Elizabeth/Betty Pope. The death certificate indicated she was the wife of John Pope... there is a possibility he is the brother of William Pope so ultimately still a relation.

Well I have found this death

POPE, BETTY       Age  86
GRO Reference: 1858  J Quarter in LANGPORT  Volume 05C  Page 314

This gives a birth year of 1772.  Ages weren't always recorded accurately in census records so this death could be a possibility.

There is a burial record for the Betty death that I have found.

The burial was on 5th June 1858 at Curry Rivel but the place of residence was Langport Westover which is where William is living in 1861.

If anyone has access to the original record perhaps it could be checked for any possible misreading of her age at death.

I think this is a very strong contender for Betty.

Thanks again.
