I would like to know if there's any way of finding out if Donald stayed on in Kilmainham after his discharge & whether there are actual attestation papers?

He was a Pt, enlisted at Edinburgh 14 Feb 1821 aged 23 yrs (born c1798) & discharged (Unfit for Service), Dublin 14 Oct 1822.

Any help appreciated as I would like to know who is parents were?

His attestation won't give parents names.

Hi Jim,

I have 'my' Donald Steele born bet. 1791 & 1801 (census' & DC) married 1822 (South Uist) to Flora MacIsaac.

Parents Malcolm Steele & Hannah Johnstone (variants)

1841 with a family of 7 as an Agricultural Labourer in Kilpheder, South Uist.

I have no reference to him being in the Army!

I thought it a coincidence this Donald was discharged 1822 same year 'my' Donald married although I don't have an actual date for the marriage!

Donald was from Frobost, South Uist i.e. this may be written on attestation papers?
