I agree with groom. I find the "not another thread on this" replies quite tedious unless it is a constant look up request on the same thing. Just dont read threads that you may find boring.
I am helping someone find their ancestor and they have acknowledged my posts which is good but I did help someone prove a link to aristocracy and got no response and they have logged in since.
Slightly off topic here but as for professionals, well I feel we do better jobs that a professional researcher. I had one and she found random instances of a surname of interest and charged me for it, and the area was of no interest. Always start from the area they came from then work backwards. She found a person with a Coombs surname in Derbyshire in the 1600s and charged me for it and back then I was still stuck in the early 1800s in London. I never used her again. Better do the job yourself.
