Thank you! Just signing in for the day. This all makes sense as Baxter family history includes many coal miners. Again so much to learn. Next is to find out John Baxter's parents. thank you again, BBaxter

Thank you! Love this: "the bairns". Haven't heard that in a long, long time.

Thank you very much for your research, it gives me something to run with. So appreciated.

Enjoy your weekend, Regards, BBaxter

Good Morning,

Just heard back from the burial records department and it seems no luck:

Dear Mrs. Baxter,

Unfortunately the records which we have for Greyfriars only commence with burials which have taken place after 1867. We do have a book of memorial inscriptions which was compiled in the late 1800’s recording the memorial inscriptions in the churchyard at that time but there is no mention of the late William Baxter so I have no record of a memorial either.

There may be a surviving memorial in the churchyard which you may find whilst visiting but unfortunately I have no record of one here.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Pre-1855 Monumental Inscriptions in South Perthshire by John & Sheila Mitchell 1974
I went to Perth Library on several occasions and photographed the pages concerning some burial grounds in the South Perthshire book.
They are:
Aberdalgie
Dron
Dunbarney
Dupplin
Ecclesiamagirdle
Kirkton o’ Mailer
Rhynd

Pre-1855 Monumental Inscriptions in North Perthshire was written by John & Sheila Mitchell in 1975.
I did the same for the North Perthshire book.
This book covers the three cemeteries in Perth.
The book ONLY covers the red bit in Wellshill cemetery as that is the oldest section.
Kinfauns
Perth: Greyfriars
Perth: Kinnoull
Perth: Wellshill
Scone Old
Scone New
__________

Remember these are pre-1855 MIs.
Anyone wanting a look-up then post here.
